THE DOG ADOPTION AND WELFARE GROUP'S 2008 ONLINE AUCTION HAS BEGUN!!!

The online auction of DOG ADOPTION AND WELFARE GROUP ANNUAL AUCTION 2008 is now open for bidding!  The auction will run from July 1, 2008 to September 30, 2008, with the live events taking place in August and September.   See below for a list of the fun and interesting events offered this year.

Once again, the items offered are varied, interesting and you will find some bargins including gift certificates for your favorite local restaurants, shops and personal services for yourself and the dogs in your life.  You'll see art, antiques and curiosities with new items added regularly.  We hope you will bid generously, but there will be plenty of bargins!

DOGS AT WORK

Watch sheepdogs herding, drug dogs sniffing and those K9 heroes who search and rescue display intelligence and skill that will make you stand up and cheer! And yes, the Supersonics will be there running relays and chasing things that fly through the air strictly for their own amusement. Expect an elegant picnic lunch, some nice music and wine in a ranch setting nestled in the Carpinteria foothills.

Saturday, August 9^th, 11am to 3pm. $100. Limited to 100 guests.

COOL JAZZ ON A WARM AFTERNOON

Enjoy a beautiful shaded garden while listening to the sounds of Old New Orleans provided by Al Reese and his talented trio, while the sweet mellow voice of Miss Leslie Lembo floats on the soft breeze. Sound good? It gets better! There’s a Cajun lunch and lots of those tall drinksthat help the New Orleans rhythms flow.

Make your dog a masterpiece! Commission Allison Horst, whose work adorns this invitation, to paint your pup’s portrait. Or choose from among the other difted artists and photographers you’ll meet at our show. Find the perfect gift for every dog over among the canine themed decorative items ad collectables from Santa Barbara’s finest designers and shops …….. or just enjoy the show, music, wine and fabulous setting.

                   MAKE A RUN FOR IT!!

Join TEAM DAWG as training begins for the Santa Barbara Newspress Half Marathon and the 5k Fun Run on November 1^st. Don our fabulous running shirt and have your feet evaluated electronically for the perfect running shoe. Half marathoners will train with professionals twice weekly in September and October while we "Fun Runners" get some no-pressure workouts with frequent stops for coffee and pep talks. Of course it all begins with a party. Bring a few friends willing to sponsor your run for DAWGs.

Sunday, September 7^th, 3:30pm to 7pm. Santa Barbara Running Company, 129 North Fairview, Goleta. Pledges totalling $100 minimum. Limited to 100 runners.

AN AFTERNOON OF SHAMELESS INDULGENCE!

Choose a massage in a cabana by a sparkling pool or a rejuvenating faction. Perhaps its tie for a new look by a talented make-up artist. Have you been waiting to try a food de-tox …. Maybe followed by a pedicure? And don’t ignore your inner self! Release that stress with a relaxing yoga class or experience a psychic reading. All this while a flute and guitar set the mood and you graze on a buffet of nutritious, delicious delicacies.
